The nurturing of leaders is central to the development of young people at Somerset College. Keeping the philosophy 'everyone is a leader' at the forefront of the school's educational policy, the Outdoor Education Programme serves to highlight this attitude, as do the various leadership structures and training programmes within the school. With both a Prefect body and a Student Representative Council, as well as a number of Portfolio groupings, students are exposed to all forms of leadership available at their level, and are given the opportunity to lead, manage, and excel in all areas of school life.

Sports leadership complements leadership in all of these areas, and young people are nurtured and developed in this critical component.
